Ovacik is a small town
in the Mercan Mountains in east-central Turkey, dominated by Kurdish
adherents to the Alevi sect of Islam. It is awash in centenarians.
The gatherings of the men of all ages on short stools enjoying tea
and conversation was fluid-but-continual from morning to evening.
