Coffee with Father Macarios, near Tartus                                         2003

The modest Syrian Orthodox church was situated atop a hill overlooking the farmed land sloping towards the Mediterranean Sea.  Father Macarios invited Abdul and I in for coffee and we talked of politics and religion.  He gave me several small packets of frankincence as a gift when we left.
